"Chance"

Not much is known about Chance's early life. He is a cropped male who has been judged to be anywhere from 2 years to 8 years old. After being with him for just a short while it is clear that he is a young boy with a long a loving life ahead of him now that he is in his wonderful "forever home". But it wasn't always clear that he was going to have a happy ending
He was found wandering the streets of Newark and taken to the shelter there. He had all of the typical problems of a street dog - ringworm, ear infection, cough and severely underweight (65lbs on a 29" frame). One couple tried to adopt him but returned him after 3 weeks because he wanted too much attention and needed to go outside all the time! Clearly, they were not the family for a GS - especially this sweet boy!
How he looked at shelter.

Chance was pulled from the shelter and put into foster care while waiting for his new home. He quickly showed himself to be a very gentle and loving boy who just wanted to have a family to love him. There were no negative affects from his "time on the streets". He was a typical GS - always where the action was, curious about what was up on counters, but mostly looking for affection.
10lbs later and free from most of the health issues, Chance was ready for a "forever home" when an application arrived in HT-Z rescue from a Jodi Ladden whose family had been in Giants for over 30 years and when asked why do you want a GS, the response was - "is there any other breed?" She had recently lost her male GS and was looking for a young boy to fill the void. Everything looked good and after talking with the Jodi and her family there was never a doubt that Chance was about to get the chance of a lifetime with his new family in Virginia.

He met his new family at a rest stop in Maryland and it was love at first sight. Chance's face was peering from the passenger side window. Jodi, said,"I'm your mommy" and kisses were exchanged. Chance went home and met the rest of the family: another GS, PWD, Yorkie, cat, 4 daughters, husband, and friends. They celebrated his homecoming and Chance appeared to be the happiest dog alive. He fit right into his new family.GSs hold a very special place in Jodi's heart. She said "I've had a GS since I was 6 years old. My first two GS came from Camoli Kennels. I announced my intended marriage to my parents with,"I'm getting married and I want a GS." My mother located Marcia Adler and a got my "Isadorable". She was an amazing dog and lived a full 15 years". She went on to say "When we purchased a home with more land I wanted another GS. Oh sure I had 4 children under the age of 6 but that does not equal having Giants. I got "Thunder"(known to my former breeder as a mutt because he had no papers). Well, he was as close to perfection as any GS could be. After his loss, I knew I needed to have another boy and I wanted to find a GS male that needed me as much as I needed him. Chance (we named him Chance because we took a chance on each other) came into my life just at the right time. He completes our home. We adore him."
A very happy ending for a very deserving boy!
