"Deno"

The story of Deno (submitted by Cindy Notter, Wilmington, IL)

After losing two male Giants in 2002, I was ready for another male to join our pack (which consisted of a female Giant Schnauzer, Maxine, and a terrier nix named Pinky.) I contacted the HT-Z Giant Schnauzer Rescue, Inc via the internet, and was made aware of several males available in Illinois. My husband Steve wasn't totally convinced that we should add a third dog, and he always replied (only half-jokingly), "If God wants us to have another Giant Schnauzer, He'll put one right in our path."
Soon after that, Steve was traveling to Minnesota via Interstate 39 when we were notified of a male in Madison, Wisconsin - just a few miles off the highway! We both agreed that this was "right on the path". Steve picked him up on the way home and had a very interesting 5-hour ride.
Deno has been with us since October 2004. He arrived knowing the basic obedience commands and how to give kisses. And although he came with a few challenges (barking, play-obsession, and talking-back), he's very loving and now an inseparable part of our family. We tell him daily how lucky he is that God put him in the path! We are very grateful for the HT-Z Giant Schnauzer Rescue, Inc organization, and applaud them for all they do.
