"Porter"

Porter is such a wonderful companion to have around the place when you are alone or when there is guest in the house. He is absolutely adorable, with all of the giant characteristics/mannerism. Porters previous family had an older dog that would not tolerate Porter, hence, Porter came into rescue. From the very first day, Porter fit in very well with my Giant Schnauzer “Talia”. He is just the best, very loveable, easy-going, playful, with lots of energy – he loves to run and jump (very high). A versatile dog who loves to get out in the open and just do his “thing” – but he adapts very well to quite time also. His thing is to lie on his back, legs spread apart and just snooze, getting plenty of much needed indoor rest.

Obedience training needs to be continued – he is house trained, barking very demandingly when he needs to go out. He follows “sit, stay, no, out, come” commands. With continued training he will make the ideal companion. Porter is a tall boy, weighing in at about 90 pounds, his hard, wiry coat has a brilliant shine.

Since he has been with me, Porter has gained about 15 pounds. His appetite is as energetic as he is when out doors. He loves his food served with a large side of rice or preferably a scoop of plain yogurt. Keep plenty of snacks around also, he is a snacker, if none are available, he will take yours. Porter has been know to “steal” food, that is counter surf, especially at night. Because of this “surfing”, I affectionately refer to him as “Thief”.
