"Tucker"
Tucker, our handsome 3-year-old male, came into rescue needing lots of loving care. He has blossomed into a healthy young man, showing true Giant traits, an energetic, happy boy!
He likes to chase a ball and play with tug toys. Living with three other Giants, two females and a male, he is respectful of the other dogs, showing no signs of challenge. No food aggression – food has been taken away without incident and he is accepting of people near him when he eats. Fine with kids showing no need to herd them as they run and play around him. However, cats are a challenge for him. He will jump a fence to chase a cat, therefore a household with cats is not recommended.
Tucker’s voracious appetite has him putting on weight. His hard coat is coming in shiny and black. Long in the legs, he will probably weigh in some day around 85 pounds or better. Tucker is people dependent and an affectionate dog. His enthusiasm needs some focus but we are learning to heel, sit, stay and down. His recall definitely needs work, as he will come when close by but does not do well when he decides to go exploring in the woods. He will climb fences to get to the object of his affection (his foster mom). Well behaved in the house, laying down to watch the activity and sleeping the night through nicely by the side of the bed and/or in the kennel.
Tucker is looking for a home with someone who will share in his energy. He is young, playful, very sweet, just wanting that home to be with ‘his’ people. Training needs to be continued.
If you are interested in Tucker, please fill out an application and mail to us. We can send an application via email as well. He is being fostered in Virginia.
