Edie

My name is Edie and it is all about me! I am 18 months old and need a home where I will be the only dog and get a lot of attention. I need an owner that is experienced with Giant Schnauzers and has LOTS!!!! of patience because it takes me a little while to warm up to new people. My foster mom and dad have worked with me a lot.

I had kind of a rough start in life. My first owner kicked me so hard I had a bad knee when I came into rescue. After coming to my foster home, I had a major surgery on my knee and I am as good as new now, I just have to be careful so I won't reinjure myself.

I have cropped ears and am a smaller but beautiful girl. I walk on a leash. I am house broken. I do not tear up things sitting around the house like magazines. I am pretty hard on toys though. I love Kong toys and bones but most of the other toys I tear up pretty fast. I do get a little carried away when I play, especially with a ball, in the house and have been known to knock over a lamp, but it was only an accident! I am crate trained, although I prefer to be out in the house with my family. I love sitting with my foster mom and dad and getting my belly scratched and just snuggling for some attention and love. I get to go for walks at least once a day, twice on the weekends. Although I hate to leave my foster home I need a forever home. I love to ride in the car with one exception, I don't like the back windshield wiper in John's car, scares me to death!

My new owner will need to have a lot of patience as I am not very confident yet and I am afraid of new people. At this point, I do not like other dogs except the male Giant in my foster home and a male I see on my walks. I might get along with another male dog in the house, but would probably do better being an only dog. I don't like little dogs, cats or children.

Foster mom's comments: Edie is and will be a wonderful dog but she will need time to adjust and bond to her forever home and family. She is very loving and once she bonds with you she will be yours 110%. Edie is a little girl making up for lost time because it appears she spent the first 11 months of her life in a crate and wasn't exposed to much outside of my crate. In fact, I am sure she only knew the crate because it took us almost 5 months to get her to drink out of anything other then the bucket in her crate. She is a beautiful girl and will really shine in the right forever home.
