Thursday's Story

This is “Thursday” a natural eared, spayed black Giant who was abandoned at a grooming salon Southern California. Thursday was recently adopted by her foster family Mike & Laura and this is her update:

Seems like I am best at getting shots of butts or the tip of the back foot as Thursday races by! Thank goodness for digital. The area the girls are in as the east side outside the [fenced] backyard before it goes into the grove. Thursday decided this is one of her favorite areas to romp when out on an off leash play session out of the yard. She loves to climb on the rocks, and then runs into the grove, and then back again to the rocks. This went on for about an hour this morning. She still will not come up to the front door to come in, so I have to go to the edge of the grove where she will let me put the leash on her and she then happily comes right on inside.

Thursday is still afraid if I have something in my arms like laundry or a mixing bowl- but at least she just goes to her safety zone on the couch rather than hide in the far backyard....she does great with her training on the sit, come and lay down. She is also learning "NO" means mommy's arms and hands are not to be in her mouth. She is in puppy stage 101, where mouthing is great fun except for those that have their limb in her mouth. She responds so "OW!" too for which I am grateful. The past few weeks, it seems about 3 am is her playtime, so we are learning to take a rawhide to bed with us (doesn't everyone?) for her pacifier which allows us to sleep longer (having learned to sleep through her crunching on rawhide sounds). She is loving, sweet and kind. She loves the outdoors (in the grove) and is learning to explore the goats and the woodpile by herself, which before she would not go near (probably those spooky feed buckets and feed bins).

Thursday’s Child has far to go….

Karalyn's name "Thursday" for "Thursday's child has far to go" was the perfect name for her. As she continues to travel on her journey through life, I can assure you we will be there beside her to ensure she is healthy, well fed, well sheltered, and never wanting for a kind word or loving gesture. And, we will be there to support her with conquering the scary monsters she may encounter in her life.

Thanks to all of you for your continued work in making certain dogs receive a chance at a life of love, happiness, warmth and a full belly.
