MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
2007 was a very busy year for everyone. Times have been stressful, the economy is up and down and we are all rushing around. It was a very busy year for HT-Z Giant Schnauzer Rescue as well. More than 70 dogs have found their forever homes that they have always deserved. Many of these dogs came into rescue with serious health issues that were treated, giving them a new lease on a happy life, and their forever families renewed joy.

Example #1: Chloe
Dogs usually come into rescue dirty, matted, skinny, stinky on the outside, with unknowns on the inside. The following description is from a foster Mom, Cristi Ramos, who by the way was a first time foster parent!
(Each dog has its own story to tell),
“Our girl came with the head of her left femur bone completely severed off. The head of her femur remained in its hip socket while the main body of the bone floated out mid-leg. Despite this, she remained happy and loving toward everyone in spite of the pain and suffering that she had gone through, and possibly was going through day in and day out. Surprisingly she was getting around pretty good on that broken leg and from the x-rays you could tell that the damage had been done long ago. The vet really didn't know when, a year maybe two.”
Our foster mom goes on to say, “I must stop here for a moment and say thank you to HT-Z. Prior to me picking this girl up I'd contacted HT-Z to find out if they would be willing to sponsor her. Without a sponsor I couldn't have done it. HT-Z agreed right away to take financial responsibility for all her expenses and so it is really because of them that this adorable girl has been saved.”
Chloe has found her forever home!

Example #2:
A Baltimore Shelter contacted HT-Z about a male Giant, approximately one year old, that the shelter impounded from his owners. The owners kept him tied to a tree. Never groomed in his life, this boy weighed 60 pounds, 27” at the shoulder. He had kennel cough when he was picked up. His kennel cough became critical, causing his temperature to reach 106 degrees! With medical care, this boy is back on track. His foster home is nurturing him, training him and getting him ready for his forever home. It will be a bit before he is ready, but he is now safe and on his way to the life he deserves.
If you look closely, you can see the sadness in this boys face!

| That has now changed. He is happy, playful and learning that there are truly good things in life. |

Example #3: Olivia aka Curly
Olivia was picked up on the streets of Brooklyn, NY. The shelter named her Curly because of her broken ear. Yes, broken! If only she could tell her story! Filthy, undernourished by thirty pounds, fearful of men, she came to HT-Z. She was placed in a loving forever home, however, it was not to be. Her issues with abuse were overwhelming. She has a forever home with her foster parents. Life continues to be stressful for her. Men are a constant threat. The abuse Olivia received will affect her life forever. She is happy, each day a little better. Secure in her known surroundings, Olivia is a survivor. Had Rescue not stepped in, Olivia would not have this chance at a happy life. What chance does a dog have of being adopted from a shelter with her past history? Only those familiar with the breed, those that love the breed, love the dog, would be able to step in and save her life. HT-Z did.
Through it all, Olivia still retains her sense of humor – note the Bunny Ears!
